Scripture for the second term (2016~)

“David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!”

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him. David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of Gath and to the gates of Ekron. Their dead were strewn along the Shaaraim road to Gath and Ekron. When the Israelites returned from chasing the Philistines, they plundered their camp.

David took the Philistine’s head and brought it to Jerusalem; he put the Philistine’s weapons in his own tent.”

(1 Samuel 17:39-54 )

A Letter from Paster Choo

There has been great outcomes bearing much fruit in cultural aspect not only in ministry. Last three years, we had winners from an audition program, K-Pop.

There are American Idol top 9 & K- pop3 Top5, Heejun Han and K-pop4 winner, Katie Kim, and K-pop5 Top3, Yerim Kim. Not only that, but also Jung-nan Yoon is playing as a leading role as Butterfly Madame at classical opera, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra: Sedoo Park, a professor of Boston University, Hyunji Kwon, a professor of Hanyang University, Samjong Shim. And graduates of doctoral degrees from Juilliard, Yale, and Eastman are being used as spiritual tools like five stones that David used to defeat Goliath.

As we look back the first term of past 7 years (2009-2015), we want to restore the corrupted culture of this world and replace it with mission oriented minds. We pray that there will be a stream of Korean culture spread so we could be used as God’s tool for mission culture. Also, after the second term, we pray that our members will be sent to third world countries to pioneer music schools to share the Gospel by opening up a new mission horizon.

The 21st century is a war of cultural battles. We wish to be soldiers of heavenly culture who will defeat enormous Goliath of this world using music as our five smooth stones.

Scripture for 1st term (2009-2015)

“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.”

(Joshua 1:3-6)
